Although elusive, the Moose can be spotted on properties on the edge of towns in the Crowsnest Pass. They prefer wet areas and graze in rocky, wooded mountainsides. They are most often spotted West of Coleman to the BC Border.  
  Their colour varies from dark brown / black to reddish or greyish brown.  
SIZE:   As tall as 2.3m, length 2.4 to 3.2m.  
WEIGHT:   270 to 600kg., average 435kg.  
LIFE-SPAN:   Average 8 to 12 yrs., max. 22yrs.  
HABITAT:   Prefer areas with lakes, ponds and swamps. Rocky forested areas with high brush provide food and cover.  
   
DIET:   In summer many twigs, leaves, shrubs, upland plants, and water plants such as lillies. In winter, mostly twigs and shrubs.  
   
STATUS:   Species of special concern in Michigan.
