The bobcat is an elusive creature rarely spotted in the Pass. On occasion the bobcat will prey on small pets in and around towns in the Pass.

The bobcat resembles the lynx, although slightly smaller in size. Fully grown the bobcat is twice the size of a housecat.
 
SIZE:   71 - 120 cm long, with stubby 10 - 18 cm tail  
WEIGHT:   7 - 14 kg.  
LIFE-SPAN:   6 - 8 yrs to a max of 12 yrs.  
HABITAT:   Bobcats can be found in a variety of habitats, including forests, semi-deserts, mountains and brushland. They sleep in hidden dens.  
   
DIET:   Strictly meat eaters, they stalk prey and kill with a bite to the vertebrae of the neck. Prey include: rodents, rabbits, birds and reptiles.
